Canadian Music

This country has a rich musical history and Canadians have been making their presence known - both on the national and international stage - for over 50 years.  Canada's first rock and roll teen idol was Paul Anka; today it's Justin Bieber.
In 1958 Paul's song Diana reached number one in Canada and the US and has become one of the best selling 45s in music history.

Hank Snow and Paul Anka in the 1950s - Buffy St. Marie, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Ian and Sylvia, Neil Young, and Steppenwolf in the 1960s - Rush, The Guess Who and Anne Murray in the 1970s - Bryan Adams, Celine Dion, and Shania Twain in the 1980s and 1990s.
